When adding new fields to an Excel template, you must update the Named Range. This is a crucial step that ensures all fields in your generated reports are properly filled out. Without it, new fields will not be displayed correctly on your custom reports.
Download Your Template
Begin by downloading your custom Excel template. You can find it by clicking on the 'Copy of Excel Template File' link in your ValuePRO system.
- This link will often appear as the name of the template itself, for example, 'Copy of Job List'
Access the Name Manager
Once the file is downloaded and opened in Excel, navigate to the Formulas tab at the top of the screen. From there, click on the Name Manager function.
- This is where you can view and edit all the named ranges within your template.
Update the Named Range
In the Name Manager, locate the entry for your template's fields. Then, click into the 'Refers to:' field.
- To update the range, simply highlight all the columns that you want to include in your generated report. Be sure to select the new fields you've added.
Upload the Updated Template
Once you have updated the named range to include all your new fields, click the 'upload' button and save the template. Re-upload the file to your ValuePRO system.
Your custom template should now correctly display all the fields when you use it to generate a report.
