Enabling IE Mode on Microsoft Edge for IT admins

ValuePRO now works on Microsoft Edge!

The new Microsoft Edge browser includes Enterprise Mode for Internet Explorer, enabling you to use ValuePRO in both Microsoft Edge and IE11.

 

Audience

This article is intended for your IT department or system administrator and contains steps to configure Enterprise Mode via Group Policy for a quick and easy rollout.

Before getting started, please ensure that your system is eligible and that you have a good understanding of the prerequisites and supporting documentation below.

 

Eligibility

To find out whether your ValuePRO system is eligible for Edge support, please check for the
'Edge Support' tab under the settings menu. Don't worry if it's not there yet — the ValuePRO
team are hard at work gradually releasing this capability for all systems.

Enable Internet Explorer integration using Group Policy 

  1. Download and use the latest Microsoft Edge Policy Template. For additional help see the Additional Supporting Documentation section below. 
  2. Open Group Policy Editor. 
  3. Click Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge. 
  4. Double-click Configure Internet Explorer integration. 
  5. Select Enabled. 
  6. Under Options, set the dropdown value to “Internet Explorer mode” to open in IE mode on Microsoft Edge. 
  7. Click OK or Apply to save this policy setting.

3. Configure using the Configure the Enterprise Mode Site List policy  

  1. Open Group Policy Editor. 
  2. Click Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge. 
  3. Double-click Configure the Enterprise Mode Site List. 
  4. Select Enabled. 
  5. Under Options, type the HTTPS location on the website list. This can be found on your ValuePRO desktop software system via the Settings > Edge Support menu tab.
  6. Click OK or Apply to save these settings.

Configure Trusted Sites

  1. Open Group Policy Editor. 
  2. Click Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page. 
  3. Double-click Site to Zone Assignment List. 
  4. Select Enabled. 
  5. Under Options, click Show to add the required url/site list and set the Value as 2 for Trusted Sites. The Trusted Sites list can be found on your ValuePRO desktop software system via the Settings > Edge Support menu tab.
  6. Click OK or Apply to save these settings.

Internet Explorer mode diagnostic information 

You can get Internet Explorer mode diagnostic information on the Microsoft Edge Compatibility tab. To open this tab in Edge, go to the url: edge://compat/iediagnostic. This page will show diagnostic messages for the IE mode setup.
